My Pentax KF was delivered on Wednesday, and I’ve finally had a little time to sit down with it in the evening and play with some of the settings, and take a few test photos… of course of the Animals. I have some mixed feelings on it, and am not 100% sure whether or not I’m going to keep it or return it. I love the feel of the camera, and the sheer amount that can be done without having to dive into menus. There’s a pretty wide array of editing features that are available on the camera itself, and a fairly detailed interval timing system built into the camera, something I was concerned about as I plan on using this camera for some astrophotography, and to capture the upcoming eclipse. I think this weekend will really be the test – I’m going to take a few hours on Saturday and head out to the woods and just shoot some photos.
For now, here are a few sample images of what I’ve gotten around the house – a couple are with the automatic settings just to see how they work, and I’m just not a fan. It cranks the ISO up way too high, and gives some really noisy images… but that being said, I rarely shoot automatically. The manual modes are what I cared about, and they’re the opposite. I love the image that it gives, they seem very sharp and just have the right color balance for a raw photo.
The images below are unedited with the exception of some minimal cropping to get rid of some crap in the background of my messy basement, and most are using the kit lens. I also have the 55-300mm zoom lens that I’m playing around with a little bit..
