I Haven’t Completely Abandon this Page! Merry Christmas!

Howdy all – I know that things have been a little quiet here over the last few months, and I’m hoping to change that now that some things are settling down again, and we’re gearing up towards the January VHF Contest! I actually started getting everything settled the other day and think we’ll be in a good spot depending on the weather for a solid 4 grid, (hopefully) 10 band January Rove.. I’m a little concerned about my 900mhz Transverter as it was giving me some issues in June.

Over the last few months I’ve been doing a little more HF from home, no changes to the setup or anything, just actually getting some time during the week to sit down and play on the radio a bit more. I’m not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but in my lunch-time social media scrolls I’ve noticed an uptick in POTA Streamers, so I’ve been hunting them a little bit where I can just for fun.

On top of that, I’ve been participating in a Winter Miles Challenge – something that started off at running just 5 miles a week, and has been slowly increasing by 2 miles a week since right around thanksgiving. We’re up to 15 miles this week, and I swear, even taking a bunch of half days I’ve barely had the time to get the miles in, but we’re keeping up so far, despite a cold trying to get me kicked out! Need to find some time to sneak out for a few this week still..

Looking forward to 2026, I’m sitting here trying to decide what my race target is going to be – do I want to get a full Ironman in the books? A 100 Mile Ultra? Just try and shave some time off the 1/2 and Full Marathon times again? I’m leaning towards the Ultra, but trying to find ones in the area has been tricky. With the new job and more flexible usage of PTO that should make next year’s attempt much better than last as for most of the year I was pretty limited in when I could actually take off..

Like I said, this page will be lighting back up again in a couple of weeks – but in the mean time, here’s a little clip of one of the projects I’ve been working on lately, and a Merry Christmas to All!
