ISO Hilltop

I’ve only ever participated in the September contest one year and I had a good time doing it, but it seems that there’s always something going on that weekend. This year I’ve blocked it off ahead of time, and have decided that I wanted to enter in the SOP category for something different. I did this back in June 2022 and wound up with a couple thousand points, not bad for only going out a few hours with 6 bands and no plan. This time I want to go out with 10 bands, and put in a decent effort. I may try to find somewhere I can easily camp – I can then setup equipment in a tent or the back of my car and have somewhere to operate from easily too, and it also alleviates having to teardown at the end of Saturday, and then come back and have to setup again on Sunday morning. I have a few areas in mind, however they do limit me in direction, so I’m trying to decide which sacrifice to make – and if I pick a spot I want to try and make sure that I’m not interfering with the rovers too much. September tends to have less activity than January and June, so generally I should have less of a possibility of this.

If anyone has any location suggestions that would allow for easy access and maybe parking overnight in FN02, FN03, FN12, or FN13, please let me know! I’d like to keep it to those four grids, MAYBE FN01 or FN11, but I know trees can be an issue shooting back up towards the Rochester Area.

  1. Ontario County Park in FN12 has camping, but view is limited from about 0-150 degrees on microwaves. Tree blocked to Rochester/Batavia.
